Drymonas Waterfall
In Rovies, there are many magical and beautiful sites, one of
which is the park with Drymonas Waterfalls, which is situated
15 km. from Rovies and 2 km from the village Drymona.
There is a path, designed by the forest authorities, where the
bridges that are found here are made by forest materials. The
forests plantation is very rich and there are many pine
trees, fir trees, oaks and others. It is here that you will find
the water fall, that flows into a small lake.

The river Sipias creates a magical scenery, that combines relaxation
and tranquility. At the wider point of the path, you will find
the forest kiosk that has an interesting exhibition of local plants,
fauna and fossils.
From the water fall point, two natural paths are found, one leading
to the top of the mountain Xiro Oros and the other to the monastery
of Osios David. If you follow the first path, after a distance
of 4,5 km. you will reach the top of the mountain, where you will
find an old volcano, which according the forest authoritiess
information, is still active.
Ilia
Ilia s a traditional and picturesque fishing village, with tranquil
atmosphere. Here you will find many fish tavernas, with fresh
fish and local specialties.

Edipsos
Edipsos is a beautiful town, known from the ancient years for
the hot spas with their healing properties. Today Edipsos is a
well developed tourist and spa resorts, perfectly combining relaxation,
pampering and enjoyment.

Kalamoudi - Damia - Drymona
Those villages are ideal for a nice excursion through beautiful
sceneries. There are many traditional tavernas with BBQ and local
traditional specialities ( such as rooster casserole, baked or
fried pies and bread ( tiganokouloures ) and many other tasty
and interesting cuisine.

Focilised Forest of Kerasia Fossilised
Wild Life Museum
This is a fossilized forest, near the village of Kerasia, on the
road Kerasia Istiea, and is 30 minutes away from Rovies.
In this area, excavations that took place discovered many paleontological
fauna and wild life findings. Studies on the findings, contributing
that the findings are between 10 25 million years old.
This forest is a unique natural monument, that is very interesting,
as is one of the richest fossilized forests in Greece and in Europe.
It stretches between the villages of Kerasia Agia Anna
Papades. The fossilized tree trunk findings in the whole
area, are exceptional rare and highly interesting.

The wild life in this area, used to be Maherodontes ( big cats
such lions ), Elladothiria ( giraffes with short necks ) and Halikothiria.
Other animals that used to live here included elephants, hipparia
( small horses ), and Ihthiria ( ancestor of hyenas ). One finding
of a rhino scull with two horns, is a very rare and unique finding,
proving the variety of wild life in this area.
For the last few years in the village Kerasia, a museum of fossilized
mammals has been operating, providing visitors with a fascinating
insight into the interesting history of the region.
Koulouros
Koulouros is a deserted mountainous village, offering magnificent
views over the mountain. Here you can walk through natural paths
in forests, or ravines, exploring the beautiful area and discovering
amazing sceneries.

Monasteries Religious Tourism
Very close to Hotel Agnandi are 4 monasteries.
:: Hrysovalantou Monastery
This is the monastery of Agia Irene Hrisovalandou, a newly founded
monastery, situated on an green slope. The view from here is magical,
while in the tranquil atmosphere in the monastery you can take
a rest and meet the monks. While driving on the road Edipsos
Rovies you will find the cross road with the road that leads to
the monastery after a 2km drive.

:: Galataki Monastery
This is the monastery of Saint Nikolaos, known as well as Galataki
Monastery. It was built in the 15th century, and it is one of
the oldest monasteries in Evia and Greece in general. It is 12
km from Limni, and the road that leads to the monastery is an
accessible country road. The scenery is very beautiful and the
view towards the blue waters of Evoean Gulf is simply breathtaking.
It is a womens monastery and has great history dating from
the Byzantine period, in 1576. At the court yard are pieces of
an ancient temple of Posidon, while in the same area is a Venetian
tower, which according the traditional tales, was built by the
old Saint David. Very near to the monastery, on a rocky area,
is the ascetic cave of Saint Andreas ( Andrew ).

:: Saint David Monastery
At a close distance from Rovies, at the crossroads near the main
road Kerasia Istiea, is situated the famous male monastery
of Saint David. It is famous in Evia and also in Greece and was
built on a beautiful spot, with natural beauty of trees and water
springs.
The monastery was founded in 1550 and has very rare hagiography
as well, as historical relics there are exhibited in the monasterys
museum. The monks are very hospitable with the visitors, and offer
local fruits and products.

:: Saint George Monastery
Saint George of Ilia is a womens monastery, situated in
a beautiful spot, with magnificent scenery. It is 10km from Rovies
and the road that leads to it, for the last kilometers is a bendy
country road, accessible though by all cars. It is an old monastery
with a great past and history, and has many old religious relics.
The wooden crafted iconostasi of the temple, is a remarkable piece
of art.
